Why is everyone allowed to edit and delete my items and tasks in the list?
That is the principle of Mitbringen.net! Everybody is allowed to do (almost) everything. You don't have to register or reveal your personal data.
However, you can restrict some permissions in the settings (gear symbol above the list)
The list should be usable directly for all participants. There are however various safety mechanisms to prevent that someone
vandalism on your list and e.g. deliberately deletes everything. In addition, every activity on the list can be deleted in the "Organization" section.
in the tab "What has happened so far" (next to "Entertainment"). However, if someone regularly tries to (destroy) your list, please contact us (ask a question below), we will try to help.

Can anyone do anything?
Almost everything. There are few features that only the owner of the list can do. You have to assign a password when creating the list, which is needed for these actions. The secured functions include: delete list, rename list, change list description, fix appointments. Also, you can restrict some permissions in the settings (gear symbol above the list). So you can prevent for example that things can be deleted by everyone.

Is the list visible to everyone?
Yes, anyone who knows the List-Number can also call up the list. However, the List-Number is generated randomly, so it is not easy to guess. However, your list is not listed in search engines or any directories, you really need to know the List-Number.

Can I exclude certain people from the list?
No. In case of vandalism, please contact us via the question-question form (below).

I forgot my owner password, or didn't assign one when creating the list
The password usually is a combination of an animal followed by a number (e.g. "Tiger5"). Do you remember? If not please contact us using the question-question form below.

Do I have to assign a password when creating a list?
No. We'd strongly recommend it. Because only with password you can delete the list later, rename or change the description. If you don't have a password you have to contact us. The password can be as simple as you want - that's up to you.

You have to remove the bringer first and then click again on "Bring I with".

Why can't I choose how much to bring with me for some things?
Mitbringen.net can't tell how many you need. Mitbringen.net recognizes many spellings of the required number e.g. for "Four trays" or "4 boxes" and also for "One drum" the correct number is recognized. If there is something like "enough" or "very many" entered for the number, the required number cannot be recognized. If necessary, change the required number for the thing.

How can I change the date afterwards with how many people I come?
We are afraid we can't do that yet. You have to cancel the appointment and confirm it again. Then you can choose the number of persons again.

Why can't I cancel my appointment anymore?
You've probably confirmed the appointment on another device/browser, or your confirmation was more than 24 hours ago. Mitbringen.net can no longer recognize you. Unfortunately, there is currently no other option than for you to contact us using the question form below. We will then remove your confirmation for you. An alternative is to use our app, which can identify you at any time.

I have a fixed date for my event, no more suggestions should be made, or we have agreed on a date.
You can set an appointment. This way you choose this date as the binding date for your event. If an appointment is fixed, no other appointments can be suggested and it can only be for this appointment to be or canceled. You fix an appointment by clicking on the pin. The fixing can also be undone. Only the owner of the list can fix an appointment or undo it! So you may need your owner password!

How do I send the list to other participants?
There are many ways to do that. You can simply copy the link from the address bar and send it, or send the List-Number displayed to the left of the list name. You can use the Share function (bar above the list, Share icon) to send an email to all participants. If you use the app, the Share icon starts the familiar Share function of your smartphone/tablet. Alternatively, you can print the list (toolbar above the list). On the printout you will find the link to the list, the List-Number and even a QR code to scan.

Can I publicly link my list on my website, Facebook, forums, etc.?
Sure. Just remember that anyone who has the link to the list can do almost anything there.

Are there any limits on the number of things/tasks in the list, the number of users, etc.?
No, we don't set limits on our own. Just keep in mind that the list is technically meant to be a bring list. A list with more than 100 entries is difficult for man and machine to handle. If our server reaches its limits with the number of users, we will come up with something.

Can I also use the list for professional purposes or in my company?
We'd love to. Just consider that everything you write on Mitbringen.net is more or less publicly viewable. Just someone has to get the List-Number and can see everything.

Why can't I delete or edit my comment?
You can edit your own comment up to 30 minutes after creation. After that it is not possible any more to manipulate the course of a conversation.

Why may I not edit or delete a thing/task or not delete a bringer?
Since Mitbringen.net does not uniquely identify a user via a name/password, there must be other security measures in place to prevent vandalism of foreign lists. This is one of them. You may only perform a certain number of actions on "foreign objects" per hour. If you are the owner of the list and have an owner password, this restriction does not apply.

Why does Mitbringen.net claim I would change something about foreign things/tasks/helpers/bringers? It's mine!
Since Mitbringen.net does not uniquely identify a user by a name/password, it can only recognize a user if he or she reuses the same device and browser, and only within a "session". If in the meantime you have restarted your computer, closed your browser or entered the thing on another device (e.g. your smartphone), Mitbringen.net will no longer recognize you. Accordingly, it no longer knows that you have created these things. This can also happen if you have been registered more than 24 hours ago. By the way, you don't have these problems when you use the app.

I accidentally deleted a thing/task from the list, along with the bringer - now what?
Don't panic :-) In the "Organization" section in the "What happened so far" tab (next to "Conversation") you will find your delete action and also a "Restore" button. As the owner of the list you can however also prevent things from getting deleted by everyone via the settings (gear symbol above the list)

How long can I use a list or how long does it last?
As long as the list is used, it will exist. So theoretically you can use your list as long as mitbringen.net exists. Only if there are no activities on the list for one year, it will be marked as deletable and then it will be deleted somewhen to free the List-Number.

How to delete my account and personal data?
You don't actually have an account at mitbringen.net as you didn't had to register. We therefore have no personal data about you. There is only a so-called "user session" that summarizes all actions you have performed on the same device under a random but unique ID. If you would like us to delete this user session, please use the contact form below. All your entries, comments etc. will then only be visible without a name or will disappear completely. Alternatively, you can also select "Delete all data from this website" in your browser - then the session ID can no longer be assigned to you, but all entries will remain with your name.

What is meant by PIN?
PIN is the old name for the “list number”, i.e. the 6-digit combination of numbers and letters used to uniquely identify the list. The term often caused confusion and mix-ups with the owner password, which is why the name was changed to “list number” in September 2024.
