More control for list owners
Anyone who knows the link to a list or the list number can do almost anything on this list. Neither registration nor activation by the list creator is necessary. This is one of the principles of mitbringen.net and the “Bringlist” app that has remained unchanged since it was founded in 2011.
Over the years, however, users of the list have increasingly expressed the wish to be able to restrict this at least a little – if only to maintain a certain order and organization at certain events.
Since the last release, Mitbringen.net or the “Bringlist” app finally offers a possibility for these users: With the “Settings” (prominently placed in the toolbar above the list), owners of a list – i.e. those who have created this list or have the “owner password” – can now change the default behavior of the list. The following settings are currently possible:
- It is no longer possible to sign up for tasks once the desired number of helpers has been reached
- It is no longer possible to bring items as soon as the desired number is reached
- Only the list owner may delete items and tasks
- Things and tasks that are not complete are always displayed at the top – regardless of the actual sorting (this was another user request that was implemented in the course of this)
However, the standard behavior of the list remains unchanged – all users of a list can still do everything – as long as the list owner of the list does not restrict this via the settings.
More changes in that release
In addition to the new settings, some bugs were fixed in the last release – for example, the editor was not displayed correctly when descriptions were subsequently added to a list entry. The “Empty-State” of the list – i.e. when there are no entries yet – was also faulty.
In addition, the inline edit function (i.e. editing the list title, description, etc.) now asks again when exiting, so that an elaborate text entry cannot be accidentally deleted.
The Mitbringen.net developers‘ list of ideas is still well filled, so they will continue to work on the project in the future.
